An app that lets passengers log complaints against the Transportation Security Administration will now send those complaints directly to members of Congress. FlyRights, which first launched in 2012, was created by the Sikh Coalition, in coordination with the TSA, after multiple people complained they were racially profiled and subjected to additional screening at airports because they were wearing turbans.

A new version of that app, released just in time for the holiday travel rush, now sends logged complaints directly to the House members and senators of passengers, as well as the TSA, the Department of Homeland Security and the Sikh Coalition. FlyRights now also features a  “crowd-sourced” map showing the number of complaints filed through FlyRights at each airport in America.

“FlyRights users have confirmed that we cannot simply trust the TSA to self-report on whether it is engaging in discrimination,”  Amardeep Singh, Director of Programs at the Sikh Coalition, said in a statement. “An independent auditor should review and publicly report on the TSA’s screening practices.”

In a statement, the TSA said, “TSA continues to work closely with its community partners, including the Sikh Coalition, to ensure that security protocols are thorough and
effective while fostering respect. TSA has conducted over 140 engagements in the past year with various interest groups regarding allegations of racial, religious and/or ethnic profiling in the screening process.”

According to FlyRights, almost 20 times more complaints were logged through the app in 2012 than the DHS reported to Congress.

FlyRights is available for iPhone and Android.
