It’s better to err on the side of watchdogs
Re: Stop blaming America first (Metro, May 29)
I am an American. As a citizen of a republic, I have a responsibility — not to display a flag pin or a car magnet, but to pay attention to what my government is doing, participate in public discourse and vote accordingly.
If I assume something is affected by U.S. policy, but find that it’s purely a matter of Bangladeshi managerial incompetence, I’ve wasted a little time.
If I err the other direction, I’ve neglected my duty. So go ahead and call me a “BAF.” That’s a label I can wear with pride.
