Letter: Think of the children and recycle
Forty or 50 years into the environmental movement, and you still see people contemptuously discarding their trash on our streets and sidewalks.
Make the small effort to hold on to that coffee cup, that cellophane wrapper, until you get to a proper trash can. Carry plastics home with you and recycle them. Especially at this time of the year, when plastic waste can get mixed with leaves and composted, causing disastrous effects to the ecosystem.
Do it for the little ones — do they deserve to inherit a world whose soil, water and food supply are irrevocably contaminated with plastics and chemicals?
