Nick Offerman to talk shop at CraftBoston Friday

nick offerman

Manliest manly man Nick Offerman is in town to play Ignatius Reilly in the Huntington Theatre’s “The Confederacy of Dunces,” and will speak with fellow woodworking and breakfast enthusiasts at CraftBoston Holiday’s Friday talk titled “Sawdust and Mirth.” He’ll go over the “importance of contemporary craft making,” and attendees will have a chance to rub shoulders or share a whiskey with the man himself at the following meet-and-greet book signing.

Concerned his credentials are just for show? Nah.

The “Fargo” star hosts “Intro to Woodworking” classes at L.A.’s Off the Saw, and once schooled Martha Stewart on how to make a cedar canoe paddle. He’s also the proprietor of the Offerman Wood Shop that sells the on-brand, handcrafted likes of whiskey coasters and wide-tooth monogrammable mustache combs. Offerman doesn’t make these items himself (sad face), but could he? You betcha.

Admission to the session ($35)includes access to the rest of the Society of Arts and Crafts’ exhibit, where 175 vendors will sell their goods and gifts.

The 8th annual CraftBoston Holiday show runs Dec. 11-Dec. 12, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Dec. 13, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at Hynes Convention Center, 900 Boylston Street, Boston. Tickets are $15 for general admission. “Sawdust and Mirth” will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
