Over the weekend, a few of Boston’s beaches were transformed into canvases.

With the help of volunteers from Boston nonprofit Save the Harbor/Save the Bay, San Franciscoartist Andres Amador etched giant, geometric patterns into the sand. On Friday, Amador worked on South Boston’s Carson Beach, carving lines with rakes. Once his massive artworks are completed, he uses a drone to take an aerial shot, showing the big picture.

“Part of why I do this and share with the public is that I love the power of working together to create,” Amador said. “It’s always a magical experience.”
