Officials are searching for a person of interest in connection with the murder of a woman inside a Methuen home Monday morning.

Officers were conducting a well-being check at a Tudor Street residence around 5:45 a.m. Monday when they found an unresponsive woman. The victim, later identified as Wanda Rose, 29, was transported to Holy Family Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Rose was the mother of a 4-year-old boy who was home at the time of the attack, the Essex District Attorney's Office said.

Emilio DeLarosa, 32, of Lawrence, who is reportedly the father of Rose's son, has been named a person of interest in the murder.

DeLarosa took the boy to a relative's home in Lawrence after the attack before he fled, DA Jonathan Blodgett told reporters.

DeLarosa and Rosa were involved in a 2012 incident in which he kidnapped and assaulted her when their son was an infant, the Eagle-Tribune reported

Officials urge anyone with information to contact Methuen Police at 978-983-8698 or Massachusetts State Police detectives at 978-538-6161.
