Massachusetts State Police are looking for a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee that was headed south on Route 1 in Saugus at the time of the crash, which happened shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13 between Walnut Street and Lynn Fells Parkway exits.

Police previously asked the public’s help in finding a silver or grey HOnda CRV SUV, and are still looking for this vehicle as well. Their investigation suggests that either one of these two vehicles may have been present at the time that a commercial vehicle swerved into a dumptruck in the middle southbound lane.

The dump truck spun out of control and rolled over, hitting the steel guardrail before coming to a rest blocking the highway. The driver of the paving truck, John Thebeau, 62, of Wilmington, was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the State Police at 978-538-6161 or 978-745-8908.
