Get ready: traffic could be a disaster on Route 128/Interstate 95 in the first weekend of November.
A section of the state highway will temporarily close as crews destroy the Highland Avenue Bridge in Needham. Construction begins late on Friday, Nov. 4 and should continue into Sunday, Nov. 6, the Boston Globe reported.
The plans will reroute traffic from the often already congested state highway onto some local roads.
“It’s not the Big Dig, but for around here, it’s pretty big,” Needham Selectman Daniel P. Matthews told the Globe.
Officials added that they couldn’t remember the last time the state had shut down a portion of the highway, aside from emergency situations.
“The only highway closures that came to mind harkened back to the Big Dig and its nightmarish detours through Boston,” the Globe observed.
Yikes. Officials have yet to release any specific detour routes, but you might want to steer clear of the area, if you can.
