A New York woman found dead after she was last seen jogging in Princeton, Massachusetts, likely struggled with her attacker in a way that left visible injuries on the suspect, officials said Thursday.

“Specifically…scratches, scrapes and/or bruises,” Worcester District Attorney Joe Early said, noting they believed the suspect wasmale.

Early said investigators are also looking at a narrower time frame as part of their investigation into the death of Vanessa Marcotte — specifically they are looking for any vehicles spotted parked or moving on Brooks Station Road between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday.

The district attorney made the remarks during a brief press conference Thursday afternoon. He did not take any questions on the investigation.

Marcotte’s body was found about a half-mile from her mother’s home in Princeton, after her mother reported her missing when she didn’t return from an afternoon jog.

Anyone with information about someone with suspicious injuries, or who saw any cars on the road at that the time, was urged to contact the Massachusetts State Police hotline at 508-453-7589.
