Police are looking for the source of several gunshots that were reported late Sunday night in Revere, WHDH reported.

Police were alerted to the gunshots near Broadway and Mountain Avenue at 11:15 p.m. Around the same location and time, officers pulled over two people in a car for speeding on Broadway. Investigators believe the two people in the car were the intended targets in the shooting, The Boston Herald reported.

"Both occupants had some obvious injuries and there was damage to their vehicle: The window was smashed out," Department spokeswoman Lt. Amy O'Hara told the Boston Herald. “It looks as though the occupants of the vehicle are in fact connected, probably as victims to the initial report of shots fired.”

O'Hara said that it was unclear what caused the nonlife-threatening injuries and that the investigation is ongoing.
