Johnson wins Daytona 500, Patrick makes history
It will be remembered for its horrific Saturday crash and as a weekend of firsts for Danica Patrick, but Jimmie Johnson ultimately owned the 2013 Daytona 500.
Johnson won his second “Great American Race” Sunday as he pushed well-ahead of Patrick and others in the final six laps. Johnson also won Daytona in 2006.
Patrick, meanwhile, made history on the day, becoming the first woman in history to lead laps. She finished eighth overall.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished in second and Mark Martin placed third.
