Eagles resting up, ready for Broncos

DeSean Jackson and the Eagles were given the weekend off as the team preps for Denver.

The hype around Chip Kelly is starting to fade. The NFL is a “what have you done for me lately” kind of league, and Kelly’s Eagles have dropped two straight games.

But Kelly, who lost to the man who held his position for 14 years last Thursday, isn’t discouraged. He has a plan for these Eagles, a plan that will resume Sunday in Denver.

“The one thing I do know about it, when you do lose, you can’t feel sorry for yourself,” Kelly said “That’s not going to solve any problems. It’s about putting your head down, going to work, understanding mistakes are made. If you continue to make the same mistake, that’s where we really have an issue.”

Kelly gave his players the entire weekend off after losing to the Chiefs. The coach wanted his guys to clear their minds and not think about football for a few days. The team returns to the practice field tomorrow.

“We didn’t give an itinerary or tell them to do this,” Kelly said. “I know they’ve talked to our strength and conditioning coaches. If they want to come in, those guys can come in. Some of them need a break. Some of them can get a little bit of time away from here. I told them, be ready when you come back on Tuesday, got to be ready to go.”

Their next opponent is Peyton Manning’s undefeated Broncos. They’ll be coming off a short week since they host Oakland Monday night. The Eagles’ fast-paced offensive attack could be in for a long night as they’ll have to deal with that unfavorable altitude in Denver.

According to Kelly, the Eagles aren’t at any more of a disadvantage than any other NFL team.

“In terms of us being able to construct a hyperbaric chamber over that football field, we can’t do that,” Kelly said. “We’re at the same advantage or disadvantage of anybody else going in there. We’re going to practice and train like we normally practice and train, and go out there and play football.”
