Celtics fall to 0-3 in road loss to Pistons
For the third straight game in the young 2013-14 season, the Celtics were in position to win a game when the fourth quarter began. Sunday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills, the Pistons went on a 10-0 run early in the final quarter to pull ahead from Boston, ultimately winning, 87-77.
The Celtics are now 0-3 to begin the season while Detroit moved to 2-1.
The Pistons may have had just too much muscle up front for the C’s to handle as Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond each had double-digit rebounds and Detroit scored 54 points underneath. Kelly Olynyk and Jordan Crawford each scored in double-digits for Boston off the bench while Avery Bradley had 13 points and eight rebounds in a losing effort.
What they’ll be saying: If you’re a fan of tanking, you couldn’t ask for much more from your 0-3 Boston Celtics right now. They’re keeping games interesting, but finding ways to lose in the end. Olynyk’s effort was promising but the Pistons looked like the men out there Sunday night. Drummond and Monroe are now the NBA’s twin towers and the Celtics currently lack the type of muscle to beat a team like this.
