Celtics snap nine-game losing streak, hold on against Raptors

The losing streak is over.

It didn’t come easy as the Celtics led by as many as 18 points, but they were able to hang on for an 88-83 win over the Toronto Raptors Wednesday night at TD Garden, snapping a nine-game losing streak.

Jared Sullinger led the way for the Celtics with arguably his best game as a professional, finishing with 25 points and 20 rebounds. It was the first 20-20 game for a Celtics player since Kevin Garnett’s first game as member of the C’s. Avery Bradley also has a strong game, adding 20 points.

DeMar DeRozan paced Toronto with 23 points in the loss.

The Celtics will now take on the Lakers Friday night (7:30, CSNNE) at TD Garden where it is likely that Rajon Rondo will make his season debut.

What they’ll be saying: Finally, the Celtics were able to snap their losing skid and they did it on the glass as they had one of their best rebounding games of the season, out-rebounding the Raptors, 58-44. They also played good, sound defense as they limited Toronto to just 39 percent shooting. In the ugly contest, the C’s shot just 35 percent from the field.

Now all the attention is on Rondo and his expected return Friday night.
