Celtics snap five-game losing skid with win over Hawks
Returning home might have been just what the Celtics needed as they snapped their five-game losing streak with a 115-104 win over the Hawks at TD Garden Wednesday night. This was after losing four straight road games and six of seven overall.
It was a strong fourth quarter which allowed the C’s to pull away as they outscored Atlanta 34-25 in the final stanza. All five starters reached double figures led by Jerryd Bayless who had 29 points. Rajon Rondo added 22 points and 11 assists while Jeff Green contributed 17 points in the win.
The Hawks were led by Jeff Teague and DeMarre Carroll who had 26 and 24 points respectively.
The Celtics will be back in action Saturday night (8:00, CSNNE) at home against the Pacers.
What they’ll be saying: It was a much needed win for the Celtics, especially being undermanned — only dressing nine players. Avery Bradley (ankle) and Jared Sullinger (concussion) remained out, while Kelly Olynyk was forced to miss the game as well because of a toe injury suffered on the road trip. The C’s forced 18 Hawks turnovers leading to 27 points of their own, which was a major key in the win.
