MLB video highlights: Red Sox beat Rangers in Sunday matinee
After coming oh-so-close to being no-hit by Yu Darvish Friday night, the Red Sox rebounded to take the next two games from the Rangers at Global Life Park in Arlington. Boston beat Texas, 5-2, Sunday thanks to a sharp performance from John Lackey – who worked seven strong innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out nine.
Mike Napoli and the Red Sox offense got to Texas starter Robbie Ross early, as the first baseman’s RBI double opened the scoring in the first inning. A.J. Pierzynski singled home David Ortiz and Napoli later in the first and Shane Victorino picked up a fielder’s-choice RBI in the second as Boston opened up a 4-0 lead.
Dustin Pedroia’s home run to left center in the seventh inning stifled Texas’ thoughts of a comeback.
Boston is off for the third straight Monday before opening up a series in Minnesota Tuesday night against the Twins.
