The 49ers came to play. They just waited until it was too late.

In the end, the Ravens held on to win Super Bowl XLVII, 34-31.

After running out to a 21-6 halftime lead — and a second-half opening kickoff return touchdown — Baltimore appeared to be cruising to their second title in franchise history.

But Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers just needed to take a little breather courtesy of about a 40-minute power outage in the Superdome.

Kaepernick led the 49ers on three straight scoring drives in the third quarter — coming out of the power delay — to claw back to 28-23 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Ravens put through a field goal to stretch it back out to an eight-point lead, but Kaepernick literally ran his team back into contention. He took it in from 15 yards out, but a failed two-point conversion and a Ravens field goal left San Francisco with one drive left, trailing by five points.

The Ravens defense — led by Ray Lewis and Ed Reed — came up with one final stop to win the game.
