2014 NFL Mock Draft: Johnny Manziel to the Buccaneers?

1. Houston Texans - Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina. Legend has it that Clowney once wrestled two full grown bears – and won by tap-out. But seriously, this guy is a beast and will wreak havoc for years to come.

2. St. Louis Rams - Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn. Assuming the Rams don’t trade the pick, why not draft a guy like Robinson to protect Sam Bradford?

3. Jacksonville Jaguars - Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville. Bridgewater may be the best QB in this year’s draft, and the Jags desperately need a QB. They can’t mess this up, can they?

4. Cleveland Browns - Blake Bortles, QB, UCF. Some mocks have Bortles going to the Texans with the top pick in the draft. If he’s available to Cleveland, he’s a must-have.

5. Oakland Raiders - Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson. Terrelle Pryor deserves more time to prove himself, but in order to do so, he needs some weapons. Watkins is this year’s best wideout.

6. Atlanta Falcons - Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo. They could be a team that trades up with the Rams if Clowney is available. If not, Mack could help a struggling defense.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M. I’m personally not a Manziel guy. I just don’t think his game will translate to the NFL level. But it’s not like the Bucs have much else going for them.

8. Minnesota Vikings - Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA. They could land QB Derek Carr from Fresno State later in the draft, but for now, go with the edge rusher in Barr.

9. Buffalo Bills – Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M. This would be a great value pick for the Bills at 10. Matthews could step right in and protect EJ Manuel.

10. Detroit Lions - Justin Gilbert, CB, OKlahoma State. Gilbert blew away the competition at the NFL combine, and the Lions are in desperate need of a corner.

11. Tennessee Titans - Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama. Considered by many to be the best safety in the draft, Clinton-Dix gives the Titans a much-needed man in coverage.

12. New York Giants - Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan. Did you see all the pressure around Eli Manning last season? Twenty-seven picks and 39 sacks later, they need help protecting him.

13. St. Louis Rams - Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M. They drafted an offensive lineman earlier, and now they take a deep threat and red zone target in Evans. Good complimentary receiver to Tavon Austin.

14. Chicago Bears - Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State. It’s assumed that the Bears will go with someone who can boost their defensive line. They should have a couple options here.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers - Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State. Dennard is a physical cornerback who would be a great fit in Pittsburgh, where their defense now leaves much to be desired.

16. Dallas Cowboys - Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh. When it comes to the Cowboys’ defense, where do we even start? They need lots of help. Donald will scare opposing QB’s.

17. Baltimore Ravens - Marqise Lee, WR, USC. The Ravens are paying Joe Flacco all that money – they should give him some options to throw to. Lee could be a steal.

18. New York Jets - Odell Beckham, WR, LSU. Geno Smith is going to get his shot again, and the Jets should help him out by adding a capable receiver.

19. Miami Dolphins - Zack Martin, OT, Notre Dame. Pretty obvious the Dolphins need a complete reboot of their offensive line. Hopefully Martin isn’t a big bully.

20. Arizona Cardinals - Kony Ealy, DE, Missouri. Michael Sam has received tons of attention, but Ealy is by far the better player out of Mizzou. The Cardinals could use a young edge rusher.

21. Green Bay Packers - Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina. The Pack could use help on defense, but with Jermichael Finley out, they also need a tight end. Ebron could be best one in draft.

22. Philadelphia Eagles - Calvin Pryor, FS. The Eagles pretty much have to go defense here, and if Pryor is available, he fits a big need. Physical player, hard hitter.

23. Kansas City Chiefs - C.J. Mosley, ILB, Alabama. The Chiefs probably want to add an offensive weapon, but Mosley could provide stability in the middle of the field for years.

24. Cincinnati Bengals - Jason Verrett, CB, TCU. You wouldn’t say that cornerback is a huge weakness for the Bengals, but Verrett looks like a corner who can cover inside and outside the numbers.

25. San Diego Chargers - Xavier Su’a-Filo, OG, UCLA. Considered by many as the top offensive guard in this year’s draft. This kid is 6-foot-4, 307 pounds… give Philip Rivers some protection.

26. Cleveland Browns - Ryan Shazier, OLB, Ohio State. D’Qwell Jackson is done in Cleveland, which means the Browns need to start thinking about replacements. Shazier has leadership potential, too.

27. New Orleans Saints - Dee Ford, DE, Auburn. They don’t have a lot of issues offensively. A nice edge rusher here would make a ton of sense.

28. Carolina Panthers - Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State. The Panthers defense is very strong, but Cam Newton could use another receiver. Benjamin’s huge frame (6-foot-5, 240 pounds) makes him some kind of receiver/tight end hybrid.

29. New England Patriots - Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame. With the uncertainty surrounding Vince Wilfork, the 6-foot-2, 330-pound Nix is a player the Patriots could slide into his place. Tight end Jace Amaro is also an option here.

30. San Francisco 49ers - Ra’Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota. It sounds like Hageman could be the jack of all trades along the defensive line.

31. Denver Broncos - Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech. Champ Bailey is out in Denver, and their defense was nothing to write home about to begin with.

32. Seattle Seahawks - Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State. Golden Tate may not be around for next season, so the Seahawks should look at another wideout to fill the void.
