A Massachusetts State Trooper was injured early Tuesday morning when an allegedly drunk driver struck his cruiser on Route 93. The fully marked cruiser was stopped on the Southeast Expressway because the trooper was investigating a two-car crash at the same location, state police said in a statement.

Neither driver in that prior crash was injured. The trooper, who's name was not released, suffered non life-threatening injuries and was "conscious and alert" while he was transported to Tufts Medical Center, officials said. He was released this morning.

The crash occurred south of Massachusetts Avenue, around 1:30 a.m. Lily Reid, 21, of Quincy was identified as the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu that struck the cruiser, a State Police Ford Explorer Utility Vehicle.

Reid was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol and failure to move over for an emergency vehicle.
