FBI searching for body of mob killing victim

FBI investigators are reportedly digging behind an old factory in Providence as they look for the body of a man they believe was the victim of a mob killing 23 years ago.

Multiple sources told WPRI-12 that agents are looking for the remains of Steven DiSarro in a parcel of land at 725 Branch Ave.

No one was ever charged in DiSarro’s death, the station reported, but former convicted mob boss Francis “Cadillac Frank” Salemme was indicted by federal prosecutors in Boston in 2004 on two counts of obstruction of justice, after prosecutors said he made false statements about his knowledge of the killing.

The Boston Globe reported that “notorious gangster Stephen ‘The Rifleman Flemmi” told investigators he saw DiSarro strangled at Salemme’s Sharon home by his son, Frank Salemme.

Though there’s no known tie between the two incidents, the report noted that the same converted mill was the site of an alleged indoor marijuana growing operation raided by the FBI in 2015, also with alleged mob connections.
