A Hyde Park teen was held without bail Thursday after being arraigned for shooting a man to death in Jamaica Plain earlier in the week.

Josiah Zachery, 18, faces a murder charge for allegedly killing Kenneth Lamour, and a count of assault with a dangerous weapon for allegedly pointing a firearm at a Boston cop who was pursuing him.

The shooting occurred around 10:35 a.m. Wednesday near 891 Centre St. Lamour was pronounced dead at the scene.

As Zachery fled the scene, he allegedly pointed a gun at a Boston Police officer.

“The officer who was fired upon showed tremendous restraint and courage when chasing an armed assailant,” said Boston Police Commissioner William Evans. “The actions of all my officers today, along with the cooperation from the community, ensured that a dangerous individual and a gun are off the streets.”

Zachery will return to court on March 12.
