Two men added to Most Wanted list for baby beating, multiple assaults

Massachusetts State Police added two violentmen to their Most Wanted Fugitive list: one man is wanted for beating a baby and the other man is wanted for a separate stabbing and shooting in Belchertown.

Keith Trueheart, 30, is wanted on two warrants; one of them is for assault and battery on a child causing substantial injury.

On November 15, 2014, Belchertown Police responded to a report of a 9-month-old baby who was injured in a fall. But when police arrived, they found injuries that were not consistent with a fall, including significant bruising on the child’s forehead and around both eyes. The child was taken to a nearby trauma center, where medical personnel discovered the child had also suffered two rib fractures. Medical evidence indicated that these injuries were not accidental.

Belchertown Police determined that Trueheart had been alone with the child at the time of the injuries and that he had fled prior to police and paramedics arrival. Trueheart is also wanted by Amherst Police for assault and battery and malicious destruction of property charges. Trueheart was living in Belchertown at the time of the assault on the baby and has ties to the town as well as Amherst and Holyoke. He is white, 5’1’’, 185 pounds, brown hair, green eyes, scars near his left eye and on his upper right arm. He has several tattoos: “Tina” on his right forearm, “Blazed” on his left forearm, an image of a dragon and a sword on his shoulder, barbed wire on his right shoulder and “DLS” on his abdomen.

Another Blechertown man is on the list of Most Wanted Fugitives.

William L. Benton, 22, skipped a court date and is wanted on five arrest warrants in Barnstable County. He is suspected of stabbing a man during an argument at a Yarmouth home on April 18, inflicting life-threatening injuries that the victim survived following emergency surgery. Benton fled the scene of the stabbing, but was later charged with attempted murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon by Yarmouth Police.

Benton is also suspected of firing a gun at another man during an argument at a Keyes Memorial Beach in Hyannis on May 10, 2014. The man Benton shot at was with a child at the time of the shooting. No one was injured. Benton was arrested a short time later on firearms and assault charges. Benton is wanted on three other warrants, two of which are for assaults. He is known to have access to firearms and knives and should be considered armed and dangerous.

He is a white male, 5’7’’ and approximately 145 pounds with black hair, brown eyes, a scar on his left cheek and several tattoos: the Grim Reaper on his back, flowers, a frog and a flag on his left forearm. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of William Benton or Keith Trueheart are strongly urged to call the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section at 1-800-KAPTURE.
