‘Billy Joel slept here’ is great for property values, apparently

Billy Joel can’t seem to make up his mind when it comes to his massive Florida estate. Joel purchased the nine-bedroom mansion and the empty plot next to it just south of West Palm Beach less than two years ago, then listed it for sale last year, then took it off the market. Well, now he’s listing it again.

Originally, Joel wanted $29 million for both properties, but he’s dropped that to a much more reasonable $27 million — $19.5 million of which is just for the house, minus the vacant lot. Here’s the thing: According to reports, Joel bought the home for $11.8 million. It’s unclear what renovations he made to raise the price by $7.7 million — other than put up a “Billy Joel sorta lived here” plaque.
