Ms. Kris Knievil of Jacque’s Cabaret is a drag performer who will appear at several Pride Week events.
When it comes to pegging the most fabulous events going down for Pride Week, we couldn’t think of a better expert to tap than Ms. Kris Knievil (of Jacque’s Cabaret and the Gold Dust Orphans).
Says Knievil, “Pride Week in Boston is a when we in the gay community look back to remember our past, celebrate what we have accomplished and plan on what needs to be done in the future. There are many fabulous events, and as a full-time performing drag artist I’ll be at many of them.” Here are her picks for some of the must-do events:
Friday: After my show at Jacques Cabaret, I’ll be going to Guilt nightclub to watch “Rupaul’s Drag Race” winner Jinx Monsoon and runner-up Ivy Winters perform. Guilt is our go-to club on Friday nights.
Saturday: It’s Gay Day at Faneuil Hall! All ages are welcome and it’s family friendly, with shopping, dining and special entertainment. Then, if you feel like dancing, then you have to go to EPIC @ House of Blues on Saturday night.
Sunday: With the big Pride Parade less than a week away, Sunday is all about shopping and making costumes for the big day. I’ll hit Dorothy’s Boutique on Massachusetts Avenue for wigs, shoes, jewelry, boas, etc. I shop there a lot – maybe too much!
Monday: It’s the Royal Pride Pageant at Machine, and they’ll be crowning the king and queen of Boston Pride 2013. I am competing for the title of Queen of Pride, so come cheer me on!! That goes from 7-10 p.m.
Tuesday: Sleep, sleep, sleep and finish those costumes. It’s a busy week!!
Wednesday: Got to go to the Queen’s Voice singing contest finals at Club Cafe. Among the celebrity judges will be “Rupaul’s Drag Race” judge Michelle Visage;contestants Detox, Ivy Winters and Jinx Monsoon;and my man crush Gay Jim from Kiss 108.
Thursday:After my show at Jacques Cabaret, I’ll be running to Estate nightclub to watch my lovely friend JujuBee perform alongside special guests Raven & Latrice Royale.
The big parade is Saturday, June 8. See you there!”
