Though reminiscent of the popular SoWa and Greenway open markets, this Cambridge version is only a fledgling market, still in its first month. Browse local goods and meet area artists, designers and crafters every Friday in the newly transformed space, and grab lunch on the go from a rotating roster of food trucks. The market runs through October, but will return this spring for its first full season.

Tread carefully! The annual – and fragile – installation returns, bringing more than 2,000 glass pumpkins right to the front of MIT’s Cambridge campus. Proceeds from the event benefit The MIT Glass Lab, which is the very space in which students create the glass gourds throughout the year.

Catch velvety-voiced Bublé in Boston for this one-night-only event. The Grammy winner is back on tour in celebration of his latest (and fourth consecutive) #1 album, “To Be Loved,” and his Sinatra-esque sound makes this an event that’s sure to appeal to everyone, from throngs of screaming teenaged superfans (does he have those?) to dear old mom.

A night at the museum for college kids only. Bring a valid student ID to gain free admission to all exhibit halls, the theater of electricity, a live animal show and a ride aboard a Boston Duck boat. Admission to the Mugar Omni theater, 3-D cinema, planetarium, and butterfly garden are all available at a discounted rate of $5. Pretty good way to get a small taste of the city for all you newbie freshman in town.

Seafoodies unite! The night kicks off with a cocktail hour filled with bubbly and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a serious seafood feast. Boston’s best chefs — hailing from eateries including West Bridge, Towne and Tarranta — will prepare dishes based around more than 20 oceanic varieties. A raw bar features Woodbury’s Clams and Big Rock Oysters and, naturally, this oceanic gala is far from dry – the open bar boasts seven wines and beers, and Strongbow cider. Eat, drink, and be merry to the tune of The Eitan Kenner Group’s mix of jazz, swing, R&B and Top 40 hits.

A Citi Performing Arts Center initiative, ArtWeek is a biannual event that aims to simultaneously celebrate art and foster community involvement. The festival features a broad range of events, spanning from family opera day to rug making, and though most events are free, a few charge $20.13 (get it?).

Ain’t no party like a seafood party. This second annual day-long festival celebrates Boston’s seafood history with oyster shucking contests, chef-led tutorials, nautical crafts and live music. All proceeds to go Boston Fisheries Foundation, a non-profit that brings awareness to state seafood and fishing industries. Bring the kids – children under 6 get in free, and there are plenty activities geared toward youngsters. Enjoy free samples and discounted dishes from various food vendors, including The Daily Catch and Yankee Lobster.

Enjoy free admission to nearly 75 Massachusetts museums, courtesy of the initiative spearheaded by Smithsonian Magazine. Participating metro locations include the MFA, the Mary Baker Eddy Library and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, though the program reaches from Newburyport to Worcester and beyond.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s… MICE! A joint effort put on by the Boston Comics Roundtable and the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley, MICE provides a place for local comic artists and writers to convene and interact with readers, putting a strong focus on the artistry of the trade. Now in its third year, 2013’s expo features workshops and panel discussions, and for the first time, a weekend-long itinerary. Sunday is Kids’ Day, so bring your blossoming cartoonist for an interactive how-to workshop.

Sample sweets and sip wine for a great cause. Home Sweet Home is a tasty competition that benefits Community Call, an event-planning enrichment program for disadvantaged students. The tasting features confections by Boston’s top dessert chefs, including competitors from Finale Desserterie, Davio’s Cucina, Temple Bar and Area Four. Talk wine with sommelier Augusto Gabriel of Vine Link, dance to live music, enjoy an art exhibit by Future Boston Alliance and be wowed by Christopher Bolter’s magic show.

An old school concept with a raunchy, new school twist, this is “a live interactive theatre experience done with all the pageantry and analog style of a 1970’s television game show.” Contestants are randomly chosen at the beginning of the 21+ event (a la “Price is Right”), cuing eight rounds of shag-carpeted trivia, retro prizes, and a live band.
