Last night’s episode of “This Is Us” was an intense one with the death of Randall’s (Sterling K. Brown) biological father, William (Ron Cephas Jones). Despite the tragedy however, there was still so much beauty as father and son journey to Memphis, where William once pursued his dreams of becoming a famous musician.

That’s where Brian Tyree Henry of “Atlanta” comes in, playing William’s cousin, Ricky, a singer and bass player who performs in a band with William back in the day.

When Ricky steps up to the mic and starts singing, the whole world stops. I sat there on my couch completely blown away by his voice. But was it really Brian Tyree Henry singing?

His rep confirmed with me that he is indeed singing the song in the show. If you need some inspiration this morning, you can watch the clip below.

The song is beautiful as well. I think it’s safe to say that this is what “This Is Us” fans will be listening to on repeat today.
