Cameron Diaz marries Benji Madden

Hollywood star Cameron Diaz and rocker Benji Madden tied the knot yesterday evening at their Los Angeles home, according to People magazine.

Diaz, 42, and Madden, 35, first got together in May and were engaged just before Christmas, reported the celebrity gossip magazine.

“We couldn’t be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends,” the couple told People.

The four-day celebrations started with a rehearsal dinner on Friday with guests including Drew Barrymore, Joel Madden and Nicole Richie. The pair then enjoyed a meal out with friends at the restaurant Il Cielo on Saturday night. This was followed by Diaz’ bachelorette party on Sunday night at an LA hotel.

Party trucks and florists delivering bunches of white flowers were spotted arriving at the couple’s home on Monday morning, along with celebrity wedding planners Yifat Oren and Stefanie Cove (who have previously planned weddings for Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman and Diaz’s good friend Drew Barrymore).

A huge marquee was put up in the garden of Diaz’s home and decorated with candles and white flowers. The reception was said to have taken place after dark, following an indoor ceremony in front of more than 90 guests including Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Benji Madden’s twin brother Joel Madden. Barrymore was Diaz’s bridesmaid and Madden’s nephew Sparrow was ring bearer, said the magazine’s source.

“There is a lot of security and they are trying to keep the wedding hush-hush by telling neighbors that Cameron is having a pre-Golden Globes party tonight,” a source told People ahead of Diaz and Madden’s big day. “It will start past dark tonight. They are setting things up in the lush backyard.”

“It was a big wedding, but they still managed to make it feel very personal. Only their families and very special friends attended,” a source told People. “It all felt very down-to-earth and sweet. Guests arrived smiling and almost seemed giddy. Everyone was excited to be a part of the wedding.”

Diaz, a Golden Globe-nominated actress, most recently starred in the film “Annie,” a reworking of the Tony-winning 1977 Broadway musical of the same name.

Madden is best-known for performing in the rock bands Good Charlotte and The Madden Brothers with his twin brother Joel Madden.

A representative for the couple told People that the two were married at “an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles.”

Representatives for Diaz and Madden could not be reached for comment.
