Prince Albert of Monaco is no stranger to royals and non-royals falling in love and stuff. I mean, his mom was Grace Kelly, who was not an official royal at all until her marriage to Prince Rainier.
And as far as he’s concerned, that gives him enough reason to give his opinion about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s very quiet, very torrid love affair. And he thinks they’re doing “a pretty good job so far.” Thanks, Al!
He told People that bringing anyone into royal circles, navigating the press and mastering protocol “is a pretty tough act. Especially in the British royal family, which is scrutinized by the press as no one’s been.”
He also gives a warning, like some sort of royal spooky ghoul, that although they’re having a “good deal of success so far,” it probably won’t last for long. “Sooner or later, she’s going to have to face the full onslaught. I can’t imagine how that will be on them, on her.”
Albert, who is married to Princess Charlene, has tons of experience with intense press coverage. Allow him to mansplain that to you. “It’s hard for anyone to handle. It was difficult for Charlene to handle,” he admits. “I can’t imagine the difference now with the increased pace of news and social media.” Pretty basic stuff!
