The ever-mysterious Chef Jacques La Merde — an anonymous chef who meticulously plates fine dining interpretations made from junk food on Instagram — is ready to come out, and he's bringing the bro-est of bros with him.
So, naturally this is happening in Boston.
The chef, whose name essentially translates to "jack s—," will be stepping into the kitchen with an all-star cast of chefs at Puritan and Co. for his "Most Soigne Dinner Ever" with owner, Chef Will Gilson, on Jan. 28. Chef Jacques La Merde will cook alongside chefs Michael Scelfo (Alden and Harlow), Craig Williams (Coppersmith), Jonny O’Callaghan (Maple Leaf Tavern in Toronto) and Harvest’s Pastry Chef Brian Mercury, for what sounds like a EPICALLY SWEET — sorry **cough** a little a la Merde coming out — multi-course dinner to benefit Lovin' Spoonfuls.
Deemed a "smart shtick " by Vogue.com and "brilliant" by Eater, Chef La Merde's aggressively excited captions and expert "New Nordic" plating techniques has earned him some 91,000 Instagram followers, most of which we're confident are dying to know his true identity. All will be revealed on Jan. 28 — the Puritan and Co. live reveal preempts the chef's public unmasking on an episode of Bravo's "Top Chef" later that night — but we grabbed chef for an e-mail chat ahead of the big day
And despite our aggressive, all-caps e-mail questioning in Comic Sans, he still remains a mystery to us.

THE THING ABOUT BEIN A CHEF, IS THAT A CERTAIN FRATERNITY DEVELOPS, THAT GOES BEYOND ACTUALLY "HAVING MET SOMEONE." I'M COOKING W/ AN AMAZIN LINEUP, AND WHILE SOME OF THESE GUYS I'VE KNOWN FOR YEARS, OTHERS I ONLY KNO THROUGH OUR SPIRITUAL-CHEF CONNECTION.
