Christian Bale thought his co-star was a real stripper

Christian Bale’s a busy guy, and he can’t be expected to keep up with the careers of every woman in Hollywood, sure. But it’s not like Australian actress Teresa Palmer is some unknown newcomer. Still, Bale wasn’t familiar with her work when they teamed up for “Knight of Cups,” his new Terrence Malick-directed film. Or, at least, he wasn’t familiar with her acting work.

“We were filming in a strip club, and Teresa Palmer’s there in her little silver hotpants and I’m asking her how long she’d been dancing for. Does she enjoy it? What got her into it?'” Bale admits to the Evening Standard. “I had no idea that she was an actress until about a week after working with her. Suddenly I saw a billboard with her face on it and I went, ‘What?'” Super-awkward, right?
