Remember Daryl Hannah? Yeah, the mermaid from “Splash.” And yes, she is still around– in the form of an environmental activist who gets arrested in front of the White House. Hey, maybe she has nothing better to do.
Hannah was arrested in front of the White house during a protest in Washington against the proposed Keystone XL pipeline. The pipeline extension would carry tar sands oil from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.
She reportedly was asked by police to move three times before she, and several other protestors, were finally arrested.
This isn’t Daryl Hannah’s first environmental rodeo. She was also arrested in West Virginia after blocking a road leading to a coal processing plant in 2009, according to TMZ.
Will Daryl Hannah’s willingness to go to jail be enough to put a stop to the Keystone XL pipeline? Probably not, but she did succeed in getting us to think about her for about five minutes.
