East Village: The venerable Italian institution Veniero’s Pastryis celebrating 120 years in the East Village with free cookies and outdoor caroling by the Third Street Music School Settlement. The country’s oldest pastry shop and oldest community music school will be handing out specially made cookies and singing carols, respectively, in front of the bakery at 342 E. 11th St. onDec. 18 at 4 p.m.

Midtown: Whether you’re in Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas tree or get in some last-minute shopping, La Maison du Chocolat has a treat for you. On Dec. 22, the chocolatier is reprising its Hot Chocolate Night, with complimentary tastings and macarons. The store, at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, will be open through midnight.

Brooklyn: Every night of Hanukkah through Dec. 23, Chabad Park Slope will light another candle on the 32-foot menorah in Grand Army Plaza. Share in the celebration with free latkes and music to mark the Jewish holiday (various times, check Chabad in Brooklyn for information). On Dec. 31, catch the New Year’s Eve fireworks over Prospect Park from the plaza, which will have free entertainment and refreshments.
