'Hamilton' cast honor Prince with onstage dance party

Let's go crazy!

Broadway has been known to pay tribute when legendary figures passby darkening its marquees. But that would not have been what Prince wanted.

Instead of mourning, the Broadway cast of Hamiltonthrew a joy-filled dance party at the end of their Thursday night performance.

After the bows, the show's creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda steps forward."We lost a giant today," hebegins, before the orchestra — they rehearsed all day to learn the song, Miranda said on Twitter— launches into the first notes of Let's Go Crazy.

Another show whose cast paid tribute to "The Purple One" after last night's performance was The Color Purple, who gave a gospel-style rendition of Purple Rain:
