When it comes to giving back, many Hollywood stars content themselves with hugging a stray puppy at an ASPCA event. "Nashville" star Hayden Panettiere got on a plane and joined the revolution.
Panettiere, who rose to fame as the "save the cheerleader, save the world" girl on "Heroes," is now out to save the world herself — or at least help save her fiance's homeland. She's engaged to Wladimir Klitchko, a Ukrainian boxing champion. Wladimir's brother is Vitali Klitchko, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament and a leader of the opposition to the Russia-favoring government.
Protesters have occupied the central square in Kiev, Ukraine, to demand closer economic ties to the West. Wladimir and Hayden joined them recently in the square.
"The beauty of this country is breathtaking: the landscape, the beautiful churches. But nothing compares to the undeniably deep souls of the Ukrainian people," Hayden told the crowd. "There is a movement happening here and we have a chance to make things right, to make things just. You have a right to a democracy."
You can check out the video below. Hayden even says what sounds like "Good evening" in Ukrainian. Just, please don't become the first lady of the Ukraine, Hayden. "Nashville" would be boring without you.
