Robin Thicke and Paula Patton are separated as of this week. However, the "Blurred Lines" singer is not going the typical Hollywood route of claiming that the split is mutual and amicable and full of good cheer. No, he's making it quite clear that he wants Paula back.
At a concert on Thursday, Thicke opened his set by dedicating a song to his wife. "For y'all that don't know me and my wife separated, but I'm trying to get my girl back. She told me, you know, she said you should go out there and tell [the fans] that you're trying to get me back. She's a good woman," he told the crowd, according to TMZ.
Thicke then dedicated his song "Lost Without U," which he says he wrote about Patton, to her.
It is pretty sweet that Thicke is throwing himself so publicly on his wife's mercy. Thicke and "About Last Night" star Patton have been together since he was 14 and she was 16, a fact that has always made Robin Thicke's sleaze-pop a little more palatable to me. If I were Paula Patton I would be at least a little won over by such an elaborate show of humility from one of the world's biggest pop stars. Then again, if I were Paula Patton, I would know that said pop star sometimes grabs girls' butts when he thinks the camera's not watching.
