It's hard being the blonde with good hair and irritating political opinions on "The View." In retrospect, maybe we didn't appreciate Elisabeth Hasselbeck enough: She was pretty annoying, but she managed to stick around and fill the role of Strident Goldilocks for 10 years on the show before fleeing for more like-minded waters on "Fox & Friends."
Her replacement, Jenny McCarthy, may not be so lucky.
“ABC has begun doing deep research on Jenny’s work on the show and the initial findings are that viewers want to tune out the second she opens her mouth!” a production source from "The View" tells Radar.
“The data has revealed that she is FAR more off-putting than Elisabeth.”
Of course, "The View" has always leaked an unusual amount of backstage chatter about its cast's infighting — that seems to be part of their brand. It doesn't necessarily mean anyone's about to get fired. In fact, if I were a "View" host, I would be more worried about my job if I got along perfectly with the other hosts.
McCarthy was named a new host back in July, causing an outcry at the time because of her anti-vaccination crusade. McCarthy has claimed that vaccines cause autism to such mainstream news organizations as “Larry King Live” and “Frontline,” and she has worked as a spokeswoman for various fringe anti-vaccination groups.
