Be at peace, “50 Shades of Grey” fans: Though Charlie Hunnam got spooked and ditched the role of Christian Grey, they are still totally making a movie. And they’ve reportedly already found a replacement: “Once Upon a Time” star Jamie Dornan.
After Hunnam’s abrupt departure, Universal decided to cast more of an unknown, according to Variety. Dornan, who hails from Northern Ireland, has been a Calvin Klein underwear model, played a serial killer in “The Fall,” and he currently stars on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” as sheriff Graham Humbert. Sounds like he’s got the perfect trifecta: Sexy, creepy, and not famous enough to put up a fuss about, say, showing his butt. If they’re lucky he’ll be illiterate too, so he won’t get a chance to read the script and realize what the heck he signed on for.
Dakota Johnson, meanwhile, has stuck with the role of Anastasia Steele, and she presumably had a big say in Dornan’s selection: Producers say Johnson is playing an active role in finding her costar.
“She’s helping us look through the candidates to see which chemistry kind of captures our attention,” producer Michael De Luca toldE! News.
“She’s just so Anastasia Steele. She’s the best partner a producer could have.”
Guess it’s true what they say: Subs are the ones with all the power.
