Julia Louis-Dreyfus was noticeably flustered taking the stage to accept her award for Best Actress in a Comedy — but given that she just won her fifth consecutive Emmy for that category, anyone would be flustered by the tremendous honor.
Her speech began as most do, thanking everyone involved in the hit show, “Veep,” where she stars as Vice President Selina Meyer. It then took a personal turn, when she mentioned her father had passed away on Friday.
Teary eyed, she said:
“I’m so glad he liked ‘Veep’ because his opinion was the one that really mattered.”
Julia Louis Dreyfus has won Best Actress in a Comedy eight times in total so far in her career.
