Bus commutes are pretty low on the fun scale, but Macklemore and Ryan Lewis made passengers on a Bronx-bound MTA bus smile when they held an in-transit impromptu performance in November.
The two boarded the Bx6 Hunts Point bus relatively inconspicuously with their hoods up; it was only when Lewis turned on his boombox that passengers started to suspect something unusual was happening. The riders were delighted to see Macklemore start rapping "Can't Hold Us" — some took videos on their smartphones while others clapped with the beat. Even senior citizens got down and boogied with the surprise performance.
Soon, the commute became a full-on party, with Macklemore climbing on seats and throwing rolls of paper towels around like streamers and passengers standing up and dancing — even the driver couldn't stop clapping at the wheel. The performance promotes the Grammys; the video debuted on the Hollywood Reporter.
We wish our morning commute could be half this fun.
