Madonna was caught posting homemade "No Parking" signs around her Upper East Side property.
In an attempt to keep cars from blocking her driveway on East 81 St., the pop singer posted signs that read "Tenant Parking Only" and "Unauthorized Vehicles Will Be Towed Away," according to NBC4 New York. She also reportedly painted the curb yellow along the stretch of her property and had "No Parking" concrete block letters on the sidewalk in front of her garage.
“The word is overkill,” bystander Al Westenberger said to the New York Post on Thursday. “Look you have one, two, three, four, five signs … maybe one sign would have been satisfactory.”
The signs quickly caught the attention of neighbors and news outlets, as well as the city's Transportation Department. According to the Post, a neighbor complained to the city, which issued a "letter of defacement" to Madonna.
Madonna responded Thursday with a post on her Instagram page along with a photo of the Daily Mail's article on the story.
"Yes Bishes I am Madonna and that is my driveway and if people park in front of it i cant drive in my driveway! So sorry the city doesn't like the color yellow! We will paint a nice dull grey to keep our neighbors happy! Sorry! Im saying 3 extra Hail Mary's this Easter for this transgression!" the post read.
