Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger to divorce: How sad should we be?

News broke late last night that America’s most incongruous celebrity couple, muscleman-turned-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kennedy-scion-turned-journalist Maria Schriver, were separating after 25 years of marriage. How saddened should we be by the news?

»Sad! Despite having seemingly nothing in common, these two were able to make it work for 25 years. They always seemed so likable, smiling their million-dollar grins in front of all those cameras.

»Resigned, but accepting! So many political couples (not going to say who, but it rhymes with “Shmintons”) stay married in name only for the sake of the “brand.” Getting divorced is at least the honest way out.

»Spooked! The Curse of the Kennedys strikes again!

»Going down tangents! There is no such thing as a Kennedy Curse.

»Happy/Angry! Who cares what happens between a Governor who drove his state into bankruptcy and the pampered princess of America’s most overindulged family?

»Laughing! The divorce of this wacky couple deserves wacky jokes! Alex Pareene’s “It’s not a tumor, it’s a decision your mother and I made that has nothing to do with you, I promise, we both still love you very much,” being the best.

»Sad, again! Aw, their poor kids!

And, repeat.

How do you feel?
