Mariah Carey took the stage at Rockefeller Center last night for the annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony and sang the holiday hit she’s sung countless times before — but not like this. The former “American Idol” struggled through a rendition of “All I Want for Christmas” that suggested we’d all made the naughty list this year. If you can endure some closer inspection, you can check out the isolated vocals. It’s educational, if nothing else. Apparently Carey was supposed to pre-record her segment on Tuesday but couldn’t make it on time, so NBC decided to let her do it live. Let’s hope this isn’t a harbinger for how tonight’s big live show is going to go.
Last night’s situation was beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up, you know that I would never want to disappoint you.
