Metro and Songza team up for your summer Fridays playlist

There’s almost nothing better than a summer Friday, especially if you take your summer vacation one weekend at a time. Because you can’t afford to waste a precious minute, the music experts at Songza have made a playlist that will instantly transition you from the work week into the weekend. Indie-leaning but still accesible, danceable but not assaultive, upbeat but not obnoxious, this mix of original songs and remixes will please anyone looking to kick-off a great time.

Highlights of this playlist include the brand new single from Matthew Dear, the hypnotic rump-shaker “Her Fantasy.” The mix also features Passion Pit’s new, but reassuringly familiar, soon-to-be festival anthem “Take a Walk,” plus their remix of Katy Perry‘s “California Gurls,” which can magically bring together your indie and mainstream friends. You’ll also hear Rick Rubin working his zen-beardo magic on Justice‘s “On’n’on,” while indie dance elder statesmen James Murphy, frontman of the now=defunct NYC dance punk outfit LCD Soundsystem, is represented by the shuffling “Dance Yrself Clean” and his gloriously cheesy, ’80s boogie-style remix of M.I.A‘s “Paper Planes.” If your friends can’t dance to that, then they’re not friends at all.
