Right now is the best time in history for budding comedy writers, according to Mike Sacks, author of "Poking A Dead Frog: Conversations With Today's Top Comedy Writers." "It's so much easier to get into comedy than it used to be," he tells us. "There are tremendous opportunities now for people regardless of who they are or where they live to get a foothold in comedy. Someone who is writing jokes out of his or her house in Oklahoma has as much of a chance to make it as anyone."
Since Sacks is an avid studier of humor writing, we got him to list his favorite people to follow on Twitter:
Ted Travelstead @trumpetcake Sample tweet: "Okay so you're a bridge over troubled water, that's all well and good, but I'm currently being ravaged by hyenas on shore. NOW WHAT, GENIUS?"
Dan Guterman @danguterman Sample tweet: "Turns out the fifth season of Hoarders was just a pile of boxes stacked up in front of my TV."
Lanyard @lanyardigan Sample tweet: "Let's cherish the time we have on earth and get rid of all the bad stuff cigarettes, drugs violence and public restrooms."
Rob Delaney @robdelaney Sample tweet: "'No you hang up.' - me to Domino's guy, who already hung up"
Jon Wurster @jonwurster Sample tweet: "Lady Gaga calls her fans Little Monsters. I call mine Mike and Todd."
