After months of intrigue and gossip, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have called off their engagement and ended their relationship, Miley's rep confirms.
Rumors that their breakup was impending have come in waves for months now — the bride-to-be was frequently spotted without her engagement ring, and they were rarely in the same place at the same time. But the rumors have been even more frequent since Miley's much-discussed performance at the VMAs, and apparently that's because this time they're true.
As an entertainment writer I have just one thing to say about the former Montana and the lesser Hemsworth: I really, really hope they're broken up for good this time. Not just because I am heartily sick of writing about their obviously doomed relationship and their attempts to defend it, but also because they seem like nice kids, and they are probably making each other as miserable as they are making me.
Miley is obviously going through a thing right now. She should probably be dating a guy named Scud with face tattoos until she works through it. And Liam, I don't know, he's a bit of a cipher, but I'd suggest he confide in his "Hunger Games" costar Jennifer Lawrence. She's probably wise enough to sort him out.
