You have only two chances to get tipsy at MilkBoy Coffee in Ardmore. This Saturday and next, from 7 p.m. to midnight, the coffee shop/popular open-mic venue will “borrow” the liquor license from its sister location in the city and turn into MilkBoy on Tap, with musical acts and featured brewers.

MilkBoy Philadelphia’s liquor license allows for 50 off-site events. “MilkBoy On Tap is our private event series that we cater along with a partner brewer,” says Tommy Joyner of MilkBoy. “These events are a great way for us to showcase our region’s wealth of musical talent — and throw a party at the same time.”

On March 23, the venue will host Denise Moser’s Record Release Birthday Show, along with American folk singer-songwriter Anne Hills. The featured brewer is San Francisco’s Anchor Brewing Company; there will also be specials on a long list of canned beers, including Slyfox Christmas Ale and Sixpoint Bengali Tiger.

“MilkBoy has been great at introducing artists to our area — Eric Hutchinson, Melody Gardot, Meika Pauley. We always ask people to trust us and we will turn you on to something amazing,” Joyner says.

Next Saturday, sip selections from Goose Island Beer Co. while singer Maggie Poulos performs, with alt-country band Ocean Carolina also on the schedule. “These events are essentially private parties,” Joyner says, so to keep things elite, tickets are limited to 85 people and only available through invite via the mailing list at MilkBoy’s website.
