Nick Lachey turned up the heat during brief tour stop in New York on Monday to help launch Wendy’s new Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger with fans’ love-filled tweets for its #PretzelLoveSongs campaign.

The 90s heartthrob, back on tour with a reunited 98 Degrees, gave an intimate performance at a Midtown Wendy’s, singing songs based on some tweets about the burger chain’s latest creation. Yes, you read that correctly.

“It’s not the easiest thing to write a song out of tweets,” Lachey said about Monday night’s performance. He created a song especially for the event, serenading the crowd with lines like “Pretzel buns I am a fan… hashtag.”

(The Word really wants to know what his paycheck was for this. Let’s hope it wasn’t just in Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburgers, even though the singer admitted that he’s “a huge pretzel guy.”)

Lachey was right back on the road after the event to prepare for the West Coast leg of the tour, where 98 Degrees performs alongside of New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men in a teen idol reunion tour collectively called “The Package.”

Now 39, life on the road comes with different responsibilities for Lachey and his wife Vanessa, who are bringing their newborn son, Camden, along for the ride.

“It’s different, but it’s cool to come off stage and know your family is there and your son is sleeping in a crib on the bus,” he said. “In a lot of ways it’s a much cooler dynamic just having the opportunity to spend time with them and the opportunity to share those memories. It’s a lot more meaningful than to be out on your own.”
