Nun wows judges on ‘The Voice of Italy’ with Alicia Keys’ ‘No One’

A 25-year-old Italian nun is garnering international attention after impressing judges on “The Voice of Italy” with her rendition of Alicia Keys’ “No One.”

Performances on the show begin with the judges’ backs turned toward the contestant. They swivel their chairs around only if they like what they hear.

Sister Cristina Scuccia instantly won over the audience, and she steadily got each of the judges to turn their chairs around. They were already wowed by her vocals, but they were shocked to see a young nun in her religious habit belting out the song.

According to the Catholic News Agency, Scuccia was asked after the performance if she is really a nun and why she decided to compete on the show.

“Yes, I am truly, truly a sister,” she replied.

“I came here because I have a gift and I want to share that gift. I am here to evangelize.”

Scuccia will now proceed to the next round of the competition.

The video of her audition has nearly 2.5 million hits on YouTube, and she was trending on Twitter after her performance with the hashtag #suorcristina.
