Dressing up to jump the line only works when everyone else in town isn’t bringing their A-game.But not every party is official, or exclusive. These venues are worth paying attention to if you want to grab some real world style tips from the professionals.

Just as one size doesn’t fit all, Up & Down (244 W. 14th St.) is both a club and lounge, respectively. A hot spot during last year’s Fashion Week, it hosts industry and magazine parties all year long and lures headline-worthy DJs.

When it’s not hosting designers’ shows, Milk Studios (450 W. 15th St.) returns to its party space mission on the penthouse and deck. Just don’t wear your killer heels — seating is very limited.

Bring your A-game to have a chance at getting in the door to Level R, the rooftop bar of the Empire Hotel (44 W. 63rd St.) that overlooks Lincoln Center. The drinks are pricey and the music is loud, but the scene is so haute you’ll have style pointers for the next decade.

Though it’s only been around for about a year, basement club Gilded Lily (408 W. 15th St.) is already well known for its weekly Feel Up! parties held beneath its drip-light chandelier, and one of the preferred spots for industry and charity events.
