Streets International’s seventh annual tasting event takes place May 28, where some of the city’s top chefs (including this year’s James Beard winner Jaime Bissonnette and Daniel Bouloud, among others) will serve their interpretations of Southeast Asian street foods paired with signature cocktails.

This year, Streets has partnered with the Clinton Global Initiative to support its goal of helping disadvantaged and orphaned youth in Hoi An, Vietnam, through its 18-month program of hospitality industry training. The school, which also has an in-house full-service restaurant staffed by students, boasts a 100 percent employment rate upon graduation since its founding in 2007.

To commemorate the program’s fifth anniversary, Streets will also debut a cookbook, “Streets: Good Food Helping Good Kids,” this spring. Besides highlighting Vietnamese produce and the cuisine served up at Streets’ Restaurant Cafe, the book also features the stories of eight graduates and their work after completing the Streets program.

Participants also include chefs Anita Lo (Annisa), Michael Chernow and Daniel Holzman (The Meatball Shop) and Jean-Paul Bourgeois from Blue Smoke, among others.

The tasting event will also feature a silent auction.

Proceeds from the evening as well as sales of the book will benefit Streets’ mission to get disadvantaged Vietnamese youths into hospitality careers.
